Lapis lazuli is the stone of communication; it helps release stress and brings deep inner peace. It aids introspection and concentration in daily life.
It is also a stone characterized by its great richness due to its celestial fragments composed essentially of pyrite.
ITS HISTORY
During ancient Egypt, around 3000 BC, lapis lazuli was used to make amulets (in the shape of eyes and scarabs) and ornaments that even decorated the funerary masks of the pharaohs.
The Egyptians associated the reflections of this stone with the eyes of the gods who came to protect its wearer from the dangers of the night. Many pendants and bracelets inlaid with this semiprecious stone have also been found.
In Mesopotamia, lapis lazuli was one of the greatest war treasures of the Sumerian city-states. The city of Our, a jewel of the third millennium BC, crafted splendid objects from this celestial stone. Twenty-three kilograms of raw lapis lazuli were discovered in the Syrian palace of Ebla.
Lapis lazuli, in Roman times, was more valuable than gold due to its rarity in Europe. Throughout its 6,000-year history, it has been associated with various symbols such as health, nobility, luck, elegance, and purity.
