Howlite
Properties of the owl
Howlite is a mineral whose most common form is irregular nodules, resembling cauliflower. Crystalline forms of the stone are rare and are only found in rare deposits worldwide. When found, howlite crystals reach a maximum size of one centimeter. Howlite nodules range in color from gray to white and are traversed by fine veins. An opaque stone with a vitreous luster, it belongs to the monoclinic crystal system. The density of howlite varies between 2.53 and 2.59. Its hardness is around 3.5 on the Mohs scale, making it a relatively brittle stone.
The most notable deposits of howls are found in Canada, the United States, and Germany.
History of the Howlites
The history of howlite is quite recent. Its official discovery dates back to 1868, when it was discovered by Canadian chemist Henri How, who found the stone in Nova Scotia and gave it his name.
To date, there is no evidence to suggest that the Ancients knew about howlite. The possible exception is a few sources that claim howlite was a rare and sacred stone to Native Americans who called it "white buffalo stone."

Benefits of howlite
On a physical level, all experts agree that howlite is one of the most suitable stones to complement diets. This is explained by the fact that it facilitates fluid drainage thanks to its dehydrating and diuretic effect. Furthermore, howlite is said to regulate the body's metabolic exchanges. It is also believed to have benefits for blood circulation, the regeneration of red and white blood cells, and the strengthening of bones and teeth. Some people recognize howlite's benefits for the epidermis; the stone is said to be ideal for restoring skin elasticity. It is also believed to stimulate thyroid secretions.
On a psychological level, howlite is an antidepressant and anti-negative energy stone. A stone of peace, gentleness, and inner calm, it can help its wearer release stress and achieve deep, restorative sleep, free from distressing dreams and nightmares. Howlite is also believed to have a protective power against both the anger of others and one's own anger, which it helps to dissipate. It thus helps restore the mental serenity that guarantees psychological well-being.

As a meditation stone, howlite promotes relaxation and the flow of energy. Howlite's preferred chakras are the sacral and solar plexus chakras, which are believed to invigorate the bones and tissues, respectively. The stone is also said to have a beneficial effect on the crown chakra, bringing release and relief.
Howlite is especially favorable to the astrological sign of Cancer.
To purify the stone, it is recommended to use demineralized water. To recharge it, simply expose it to sunlight, ideally in a pile of quartz.
