Charoita
Properties of charoite
Charoite is a silicate mineral that often contains traces of other metals such as iron, aluminum, barium, manganese, etc. It forms in limestone massifs, combined with elements like carbon and potassium, and is heated to relatively high temperatures in the range of 200 to 250 degrees Celsius. The color of the charoite varies between brown, lilac, and purple. Its crystal system is monoclinic, its streak is white, and its luster is vitreous, even pearly in some cases. The stone's density is 2.54 to 2.58 g/cm³. Its hardness is 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale.
The most famous site is in Siberia, near Lake Baikal, in the Aldan massif.

History of the charoite
The etymology of the word charoite, pronounced tcharoite, comes from the name of the Chara River in the Sakha Republic of Siberia. It is believed that the stone was discovered in the 1940s, but it wasn't actually discovered and studied until 1978. However, the exploitation of this unique stone remains very limited, as it is located in a difficult-to-access area in one of the harshest environments on the planet.
The relatively recent discovery of charoite and its rarity mean that there is no mention or trace of its use in ancient times. Today, raw charoite is highly sought after by collectors for its unique colors. In jewelry, it is considered a precious stone, often cut into cabochons or carved into ornamental and decorative objects.

Benefits of charoite
Lithotherapy attributes great curative and preventative properties to the carotid artery, especially against viral and microbial infections. It is said to strengthen the immune system and also detoxify the body, purging it of toxins and excess fat. As such, it is highly recommended for weight-loss diets. The carotid artery also stimulates the cardiovascular system and provides energy to the body in cases of fatigue.
On a psychic and spiritual level, the carotid stone helps dispel anxiety and nighttime fears, promoting restful sleep. Effective against negative and compulsive emotions, it helps reduce stress and nervous tension, thus purging the mind and aura of negativity. A stone of spirituality and wisdom, charoet helps manage emotions and channel the body's energies to facilitate spiritual liberation and elevation.
